Selling on WhatsApp in Egypt Without Losing Orders
WhatsApp is great for talking to customers and weak as an order book. Here's how to stay close to your customers without ever losing an order.
In Egypt, WhatsApp is where customers talk to sellers. The problem isn't WhatsApp itself. It's using it for everything at once: catalogue, calculator, order book and delivery tracker.
The result is familiar: an order lost among 40 chats, a missing address, and a customer asking "where's my order?".
Why do orders get lost on WhatsApp?
- The order is split across many messages: a photo, then "I want this", then the size an hour later, then the address.
- There's no order number, so it's hard to find or follow up.
- The maths is manual: price, quantity and delivery are calculated every time, and mistakes happen.
- Nothing reminds you: a chat that scrolls down gets forgotten.
Step 1: An organised WhatsApp Business account
Keep your selling number separate from your personal one if you can. WhatsApp Business is free and gives you a business name, address, opening hours and quick replies. It isn't required to sell, but it makes you look organised.
Step 2: Saved replies for repeated questions
Write a ready reply for every question you get again and again:
| Question | A saved reply that includes |
|---|---|
| How much? | The product link with the price, or your whole store link |
| How much is delivery? | Your areas, the fee for each and delivery time |
| Other sizes or colours? | Only what's available right now |
| How do I pay? | Cash on delivery, transfer, or a deposit |
Step 3: One complete order message
Ask customers for all the details in a single message, or better, let your store send it ready-made:
Order TJ-1234 Mustard crochet bag × 1 Scented candle × 2 Total: ... EGP + delivery Name, mobile, address, area
Step 4: Confirm every order the same way
Use one fixed confirmation: items, total, estimated delivery time and payment method. The customer feels reassured, and you have a clear record.
Step 5: Record the order outside the chat
This is where tools make the difference. A notebook or sheet helps, but it's better when the order is saved automatically before it reaches WhatsApp. On Tajrova, for example, the order gets a number and is saved in your dashboard first, then WhatsApp opens with a ready message. Even if the customer never sends that message, you still have the order and their details.

Step 6: Follow up on pending orders
Set a deadline to reply to every order. On Tajrova, each order waiting for your confirmation has a 48-hour timer, and if it expires you can create a new order from it at current prices.
Step 7: Know your numbers
Once a week, ask: how many orders came in? How many were confirmed? How many were cancelled, and why? What's the most ordered product? If every answer is "not sure", you need a place that records orders instead of chats.

When is WhatsApp alone enough?
If you have very few products and a handful of orders a week, WhatsApp with saved replies is fine. As products or orders grow, compare a WhatsApp catalogue with an online store.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need WhatsApp Business to use Tajrova?
No. Any working WhatsApp number is fine, and customers send you the order in a ready message.
What if the customer doesn't send the WhatsApp message?
The order is already saved with its number and the customer's details, so you can contact them from the order page.
Can I ask for a deposit?
Yes. On Tajrova a deposit can be optional or required, depending on how you work. The customer uploads proof of payment and you review it.
